The study

Vertical plume interaction quantified from Level 8 to Level 18.

Challenge

Corner-mounted condenser plants discharge beside neighbouring buildings, creating a credible risk of hot-air re-ingestion at the same and higher levels.

Method

The external model included the tower corner, adjacent buildings and all condenser plants operating at full load under 35 °C ambient temperature and a 24 kph design wind.

Outcome

Warm-plume interaction increased with height, but every monitored inlet remained inside acceptable operating limits; lower levels stayed close to ambient.
