Project 04 / Hazardous vapour extraction · Worker safety
Industrial Paint Booth Ventilation CFD Study
Extraction paths verified across a modular enclosure for solvent-based paint operations.

The study
A clear sweep from intake zones to exhaust stacks.
Challenge
The modular booth required safe removal of solvent vapour and overspray without stagnant breathing-zone pockets or recirculation through the working envelope.
Method
The model reproduced the shelter, intake filtration, axial exhaust fans, stacks and cowls. Velocity fields and xylene concentration renderings were reviewed across the entire working volume.
Outcome
Air moved consistently toward the exhaust stacks, directly sweeping the working zone. No large-scale recirculation cells capable of supporting vapour accumulation were identified.
